The most recent upgrade of the email subscription system went as smooth as a dirt road after a rainstorm. While the new version installed fine, I cannot figure out why it is no longer sending emails. Gregg GOP has been using MailPress, a system which gets high reviews. The key benefits are (1) everything is self-contained, (2) people can subscribe to the posts, comments, or both, and (3) it offers much flexibility regarding how often subscribers receive emails. However, this is not the first time that an upgrade has resulted in problems.
Despite the benefits, the burdensome upgrades and constant difficulties with the system not sending out after upgrades outweigh the gains. Thus, Gregg GOP will be returning to the subscription system available through Feedburner (part of the Google family of services). Their reliability is a major factor to this shift. This change has already occurred.
Gregg GOP used Feedburner in the past and moved to MailPress, but after a year or so full of frustrations and upgrade headaches, we are returning to Feedburner.
We Need Your Help
At this time, Feedburner’s system does not allow for importing email addresses (probably done to help protect email privacy). This means that currently subscribed email addresses cannot be moved by the party. We need your help!
To keep receiving email updates, please subscribe to the feed through the form located on Gregg GOP’s website (click the “Subscribe” tab then fill out the form).
We offer are sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. We anticipate this to be the last time such a change in the email subscription systems occurs. The good news is that the system will be more reliable and offers multiple features for promoting the site not offered by MailPress.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support.
