You’ve probably heard the latest Times/CBS poll showing that Romney leads Obama by 3 points (a statistical tie). According to reports, the Obama camp is nervous because that same poll, which called the same exact people as before, earlier showed an actual (not just statistical) tie.
Hype. All hype.
Do not believe that stuff about the Obama camp being worried about some national poll. They are not stupid! They know better. They know that the national polls matter little, if at all. It’s the state-by-state polls they are watching. They want to win states, not the national polls. And as of the most recent state-by-state info, the Romney camp, Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, and all others who oppose Obama have much to worry about.
According to Real Clear Politics, Obama is leading Romney 253 to 170 in electoral college votes, with 115 in the undecided column. But that’s not the whole story. When you look at the toss-up states’ polls, it shows one tied, two leaning Romney, and six leaning Obama. The results: Obama is looking at a landslide victory, 338 to 181.
That’s the real picture of where things stand. Don’t be fooled by the national poll hype — it will lead you astray.
