Day 1: Arriving in Minnesota
Not a lot to tell here. There are lots of folks showing up. The press is here in great numbers as well.
One press lady was riding up and down the elevator trying to find someone to talk to who would tell her what she wanted to hear. She was from the Associated Press (AP) and wanted to know opinions about the VP pick. When everyone but one man on the elevator said is was a GREAT choice–all but one–the reporter looked at the ONE and said, “You are the one I want to talk to.” He said he had a meeting to go to. She said it would only take a minute and she wanted to talk to him in the basement. He said he didn’t have time and the reporter got frustrated.
The delegates and alternates seem to ALL think that the Governor was the best of all possible choices.
Everyone is talking about a shortened venue here. We don’t know exactly what we are doing tomorrow other than it will be slow.
The Minnesota-Saint Paul Welcoming Committee has really gone all out to make people happy they came here. Gifts and free snacks . . . All sorts of info available.
I will get to you tomorrow with the happenings of the day and some photos of the view from my hotel and the convention center. May even have some VIPs to take pictures of.
